

Watermelon Red Meat Radish Heirloom Garden Seed. Unique watermelon-colored radish with crisp sweet flesh. Light green to white outside deepens in color when exposed to sunlight. Large 3-3½" round roots that are creamy white outside with a central burst of watermelon rose. Remarkably sweet, delicious taste. The flesh is crispy and mild, with a sweet flavor perfect for salads, garnishes, or cooking. This Asian-type radish is best grown in cool soils. Best sown in late summer for a fall crop. 30-80 days.
Radishes require well-drained soils. Sow at any time during the season, beginning in early spring. Use 2-3" wide bands, 1/2" deep, rows 1 apart, or any row or bedding scheme that will eliminate unplanted ground to discourage weeds. Radishes are adversely affected by hot, dry weather. They remain in prime condition only a few days and should be grown rapidly with plenty of moisture to be mild, tender, and attractive. If growth is checked, roots may become tough, pithy, and too spicy.
