Nasturtiums were one of the first New World plants to become popular in European flower gardens. However, they weren't introduced as a flower but as a vegetable. The Incas used it as a salad crop and medicinal herb. The leaves, seeds, and flowers are edible; use them as a showy garnish or to spice up a salad. It can be grown in a container pot but will need a supporting frame. Jewel mix is a bright, 2" blooms of red, pink, orange, and yellow are held above the light green foliage.
