Japanese Mustard spinach or (Komatsuna) is milder than regular mustard greens. Komatsuna, or Japanese mustard spinach, is a leaf vegetable. It is a variety of Brassica rapa, the plant species that yields the turnip, mizuna, napa cabbage, and rapini. It is grown commercially in Japan and Taiwan. It is a versatile vegetable that is cooked and eaten in many ways. It works in containers, and it's very cold hardy, so you can grow it all winter long if you provide some protection from hard frost. It holds superfood status in its native Japan, as it contains nearly twice as much calcium as whole milk per 100 grams! The leaves are also super high in beta-carotene, as well as vitamins A, C, and K.
