The tender and delicious large 6-8" cream-colored pods with vivid purple stripes disappear when blanched. Dragon Tongue is probably the best multipurpose bean available. Tasty, high yielding, perfect for the home gardener. When the 6-8" flat pods change from lime green to buffed yellow with bright purple stripes, pick them as a fresh snap bean. When the stripes turn from purple to red, pick as a tasty shell bean. Stripes disappear completely during blanching, indicating freezer readiness. If dried beans are desired, let pods fully mature. Expect 24-30-inch tall plants. Light brown seeds with dark mottling. Very popular with gourmet chefs. Compact plants set high yields. Pods are string-less, wide, and exceptionally crisp and juicy Matures in 50-60 days
