Dried petals are used year-round to season soups and rice. As recently as 50 years ago, American physicians used calendula to treat amenorrhea, conjunctivitis, fevers, cuts, scrapes, bruises, and burns, as well as minor infections of the skin. Calendula is applied to the skin to reduce pain and swelling (inflammation) and treat poorly healing wounds and leg ulcers.
