Bozeman Watermelon

The Bozeman watermelon is one of the best varieties for the north. This is a Montana native that will grow great in areas with cooler nights. Developed in Bozeman, Montana, for short-season growing areas, this light green watermelon has a smooth speckled skin. The slightly pear-shaped fruit is large for such an early melon, averaging 10-15 lbs. with larger ones up to 18 lbs. It has an excellent flavor with thick pink-red flesh and with few seeds. Matures in only 70-80 days and keeps for up to a month after picking. The Bozeman watermelon is an excellent choice for northern gardeners and commercial growers as a short-season market melon. Try this one if you're in an area where you have difficulty getting others to ripen.
